Manila International Book Fair 2008

The month of September means a lot of things to a lot of people but to me, it simply means it’s time yet again for another Manila International Book Fair! :D For those of you who don’t know what that is, the 29th Manila International Book Fair is the biggest book fair in the world. This year, it will be held at the SMX Convention Center, the newest and largest exhibition and convention center in the country, from September 12 to September 16.

The theme of this year’s Manila International Book Fair is “World Without Borders” to celebrate how literature can cross the boundaries of time, location, and culture. With over 300 exhibitors and thousands of new titles, the book fair hopes to contribute to reading awareness of Filipinos and serve as a venue for people in the publishing industry to launch new titles, address market demands, and promote reading advocacies.

Some of the genres included in the book fair are popular books, magazines, audio and e-books, textbooks, general references, Filipiniana, coffee table books, graphic novels, art books, and rare titles. (I intend to buy a whole lot of academic books from there this year! I hope it won’t be too expensive.)

The fair is organized by Primetrade Asia along with Asian Communicators Inc, Philippine Booksellers Association Inc, Book Development Association of the Philippines, and Publishers Representatives Organizations of the Philippines. For details, call 890-0661 or 896-0682, or e-mail [email protected]
