UNICEF Ambassador Gary V. Performs for the Benefit of Filipino Street Children

This Friday, April 3, 2009, the energetic and talented Gary Valenciano will be sharing the stage with disabled musicians at the Cultural Center of the Philippines for the Beautiful Children Concert, organized by Korean non-profit organization Beautiful Mind Charity.

For ten years, Mr. Pure Energy himself has been supporting UNICEF Philippines by serving as National Ambassador. Gary V. believes in the healing power of music and that this can be used as a medium to bring messages of hope and strength to young people. Despite the many improvements UNICEF has brought to lives of children all over the Philippines, Gary V wants to make UNICEF’s advocacy more known so that all Filipinos can unite efforts to fight for childrens’ rights in our country.

In line with Gary V’s advocacy, the Beautiful Children Concert hopes to inspire its audiences by showcasing the talents of disabled children and how they were able to surpass the limitations of their disabilities. Along with Gary V, this one-night concert will feature artists like Hee Ah Lee, a pianist with congenital limb deformity; San Jae Lee, a visually impaired clarinetist; and Philippine soprano Alexis Edralin who was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia. Performing with the children are elite musicians like the Clarion Chamber Ensemble, pianist, Hye Young Park, crossover artist Kyul, and the Beautiful Mind Trio composed of guitarist Jung Shil Suh, cellist Il Hwan Bai, and violinist Geenie Jung.

All proceeds of the Beautiful Children Concert will be given to UNICEF to help improve the lives of children and women among Filipino communities.

The Beautiful Children Concert is hosted by the Korean Embassy and sponsored by the United Korean Community Association of the Philippines. For more inquiries and ticket purchases, please contact the UNICEF office from Monday thru Friday at 758-1000 or the CCP at 832-1125.
