Singapore is My Second Home

Ever since my sister-in-law moved to Singapore with her family, we have made it our second home. With affordable travel fares, it is so easy to travel from Manila to Singapore. My daughters fly back and forth on their own every time there is a Singapore sale. Every visit to Singapore is unique experience because there are just so many places, food and events. On one of our visits, my husband and I stopped by at the Raffles Hotel for a Singapore Sling.

This year I got invited to media events in Singapore which is different from my personal travels.

A Nokia Ovi adventure brought me to the Esplanade where my media friends and I had fun doing creative shots.

The Singapore Tourism Board invited me to cover their annual Singapore Food Festival and was overwhelmed at all the Singapore cuisine especially Peranakan dishes.

It took a popular TV soap opera called “The Little Nyonya” to boost the declining Peranakan culture For the first time, a Peranakan parade where more than 200 Peranakans, elaborately dressed in traditional gear, marched down to Clarke Quay.

And just recently, I was once again invited for the launch of “Take me to the Philippines” campaign with our very own Department of Tourism. I was so thrilled to watch the Black Eyed Peas concert at the F1 Rocks, Fort Canning.

Sure , I have been to Singapore many times but I have not really been to many places yet. There is just too much to discover and experience. In my next visit, I want it to be uniquely romantic day with my husband.

We will begin the morning with breakfast at Halia Restaurant set amidst the tranquil settings of the Singapore Botanic Gardens – a perfect place for a romantic tête-à-tête in the middle of a tropical idyll. We will surely work off the hearty meal with a stroll in the National Orchid Garden. My husband and I love nature tripping and I simply love orchids.

I have never been to Sentoso so the next stop will be Visit Sentosa -the sland resort getaway. Hubby and I will tour of the island with a visit to the Tiger Sky Tower for panoramic views across Singapore, Sentosa and the Southern Islands. Then Lunch at Trapizza at Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort will perk up our mood as we chill out at the trendy pizzarie restaurant on Siloso beach.

After a satisfying meal, the next stop should be the Underwater World and Dive with Dugongs and the Dugong Cove! I can just imagine the fun.

Next will be Spa Botanica – Singapore’s first tropical garden destination spa where hubby and I can indulge in an intimate “Two-gether Day Package”. What is day without relaxation. This includes a romantic couple’s body scrub and the couple’s Vichy shower, followed by a moor body wrap before a delicious light snack. We will enjoy the indulgence of the exotic couples aroma massage before relaxing in the couples’ King’s bath, complete with a sprinkle of flower petals and a glass of champagne. That is so romantic and I am sure we will feel so relaxed and romantic.

Maybe, if we have an appetite, we will leave the island with a romantic dinner in the sky. Dining in a cable car against the backdrop of the crimson sunset is definitely an experience to remember. Finally, end the idyllic day with cocktails at Singapore’s highest point – Equinox.

What a romantic experience that will be and so different from my usual hectic media events or shopping sprees. I plan to make this a surprise 25th wedding anniversary gift next year.
