Who says fashion isn’t socially relevant? On July 31 and August 2, 2009, head over to the Archeology Wing at Rockwell for FashiEn (FashiEn for the Environment), an event that aims to promote environmental awareness through fashion, music, art, film, and sports.
On July 31, enjoy cocktails as you view a fashion show featuring nature-inspired apparel and accessories from boutiques at Archeology like Team Manila, Moonshine, Ilaya, and Wisdom. Budding designers from the School of Fashion and the Arts Retail Lab like Willow, Amour, and Mafia will also take to the ramp to show off their new pieces made out of organic and environment-friendly materials. The fun doesn’t stop after the fashion show ends because Filipino band Nycó Macá + PLAYgROUND will be launching their album on the same evening. Finally, the Archeology Wing will also show a documentary called 11th Hour. Hosted by Leonardo Di Caprio, 11th Hour explores the environmental state of our planet and what we can do to change it.
On August 2, the entire Rockwell center will host a cycling competition by North Star Investment Philippines. Called “Sigaw ng Kalikasan”, the contest will begin at 6 am and end at 11 am.
There are other environment-related activities happening from July 24 to August 2, like a nature photo exhibit by Bantay Kalikasan, and a furniture exhibit by Milo Naval, a world-renowned furniture designer whose pieces are driven by recycling.
