Defacto Skinny Jeans

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about how I wanted to find the perfect pair of skinny jeans. The thing is, I don’t really have the time to go to every shop and try on countless pairs, so upon the strong recommendation of my friend, I decided to head over to Defacto in Makati to get a custom pair made. At Defacto, they have all kinds of denim fabric and styles to choose from, so it helps if you already have an idea of what kind of pair you want before you go there. Otherwise, you’ll be so overwhelmed with the options available!

So here’s how Defacto jeans are made:
1) Choose what kind of pants you want (skinny, straight, bootleg, etc.)
2) Once you’re done picking out the style, someone will take your measurements. I suggest that you wear a pair of pants whose fit you like best so they can get a better idea of how you want your pants to be made.
3) Choose the type of denim.
4) Choose the stitching.
5) Wait seven to ten days for a text message to arrive saying that your jeans are done!
6) Go back to the Defacto store and try on your custom-made jeans. Defacto has a 21-day guarantee, which means you can still have your jeans altered for free up until 21 days after you got them.

The base price of Defacto jeans is Php 2,000 and you need to pay a little more if you want to add extra pockets and stuff. I just got a normal pair of skinny jeans with the traditional mustard-yellow stitching. Now that I think about it, I wish I had been a little more adventurous!

The guys at Defacto also deconstructs old jeans to make them look cooler or to make them fit better. I brought in a pair of flared jeans I used to wear all the time in college and had them transform it into skinny jeans for around Php 300.

The Defacto store can be found at Unit 112 G/F Mile Long Building, Amorsolo Cor Herrera Sts., Legazpi Village, Makati. Check out their Multiply site to see the latest styles and fabrics.

Wellington Boots at Methilation

I’m only happy when it rains…except when I have to go out and commute in the rain. Whenever it rains hard I never quite know what shoes are appropriate for braving the puddles and the mud. If I wear flip-flops or sandals, my feet will get dirty. If I wear sneakers - ugh, nothing is worse than the sensation of wet feet trapped inside equally wet sneakers. The only solution I could think of are Wellingtons (rubber boots) but meh, they look cheap and rather unsightly.

It’s a good thing that fashionable Wellingtons are now available in the Philippines! Methilation has over thirty adorable Wellington boots in their pre-order cataolgue. And not only are they great to look at - they’re incredibly comfortable and functional. Each pair is made out of 100% rubber, including the outsoles, so you don’t have to worry about slipping and sliding on wet floors. Unlike
other boots that really make you struggle when you put them on, these Wellingtons are designed to make it easy for you to slip them on and off. The insides are also lined with 100% cotton so your feet don’t feel hot and trapped even if you wear them all afternoon.

Here are just *some* of my favorite designs:

Aren’t they adorable? I’d seriously wear them even if it wasn’t raining. And since you can never tell when it will rain these days, it’s good to head out prepared.

You can check out the entire catalogue or order Wellington boots at the Methilation website. Take note that all the items in the Methilation website are pre-ordered, meaning that you have to wait 28-42 days until you get them.

Skinny Jeans

Right now, I am fixated with the thought of getting me a pair of skinny jeans. I don’t really like putting too much thought on what I wear, which is why skinny jeans in particular are my favorite fashion staple. Not only do skinny jeans go well with dressy tops, t-shirts, sneakers, and heels; they also give me the illusion of height. Unfortunately my favorite pair of skinny jeans keeps sliding down my ass and exposing my buttcrack, and I’m sick of pulling them up every five seconds.

I’m seriously considering grabbing a pair of Levi’s 531 skinny jeans. That shade of blue is perfect, plus Levi’s is a very reliable brand. But that’s also the very same reason why I’m thinking twice about it; I’m not a fan of supporting big-name brands and besides, I’d feel guilty for spending more than two thousand pesos on an article of clothing.

Which is why I’m also thinking about getting a pair custom-made at Defacto Jeans. I’ve been hearing lots of good things about them, plus I like how they present themselves as an alternative to mass-produced clothing. But when I looked through their Multiply, I was a little disappointed because their jeans look too flashy and fashionista-like for my tastes. I just want a pair of simple, nondescript denim jeans I can wear everyday. I was told that they have good old-fashioned plain denim though, so I sent the Defacto guys an email asking them if they can make me the pair that I want using the material I want. I also asked them if they can turn a pair of old flared jeans into skinny jeans - there’s a pair of flared jeans I wore throughout college and I want to be able to wear them still. I hope I hear a reply from Defacto soon - I’ve got money and I’m not afraid to spend it!

And if you guys know of a good place to get skinny jeans, please let me know!
