    …did not win Michael Jackson Memorial Tickets

    So yes, I was one of the crazy 1.6 million fans who attempted to get a ticket.

    I got an email with an attached graphic shown above at 1:53 PM this afternoon informing me that

    Thank you for your registration.

    Sorry, we regret to inform you that your registration to attend the Public Memorial Service for Michael Jackson was not selected.

    Hundreds of thousands registered, but only a few can be in attendance.

    Oh well, it was sweet of Staples Center to inform me and 1 million five hundred thousand other fans via email. At least I now have a keepsake of my attempt to get a ticket. That’s something! The lucky ones are part of the 11,000 people who will have the chance to go to the Staples Center plus 6,500 in the Nokia Theater overflow section next door.

    I had a plan in place. I knew that the announcement would be out at around 1:00 PM. If I won, that meant I would have hopped on the plane tonight via Philippine Airlines non-stop flight to Los Angeles ( and get the chance to join my daughter in New York). I’d call a far-off relative in Los Angeles or my sister in San Francisco to join me. But that didn’t happen.

    No worries, I can still watch it live via five television networks at 10:00 AM, Tuesday , July 7 (Pacific Time) or 2:00 AM Philippine time on Wednesday.
