Espadrilles from Sara Lopez Jute Sole Collection
I once spotted espadrilles a few years ago as I went shopping with my 2 girls. The sight of these shoes evoked college memories such as dancing with it during dormitory parties. I egged my two daughters to get a pair. They didn’t want to buy them. Maybe at that time, the espadrilles design wasn’t too fashionable.
Today, I can say that Espadrilles are definitely back in Manila. And nothing evokes the easy, sultry vibe of Madrid’s fashionable footwear like the Sara Lopez Jute Sole Collection from La Cubierta.
Yesterday I attended the Spanish Expo (which lasts till Sunday, September 30) at the Rockwell Tent and visited the Sueno de Espadrilles booth to check on the various Sara Lopez espadrilles design.

I found them all so pretty. The rules of footwear used to be strict when it came to fashion versus comfort: women can’t have both.
A shoe appropriate for walking was not the same shoe to wear to a club. A pair that promised shapely calves and longer legs also meant blisters. Which makes the arrival of Spain’s most celebrated fashion aesthetic to the Philippines something of a mini-revolution.

The Sara Lopez Jute Sole Collection takes its design cue from the easy comfort of the traditional rope-soled Spanish summer staple infused with the latest whims of fashion. Each pair highlights a free-spirited sensibility lent by the combination of sturdy materials like leather or cotton with a rubber sole making it more durable and comfortable for walking. On the other hand, the array of designs that run from crisp basics to flighty and colorful hues make it the perfect footwear option to pull any look together with style.

I slipped a pair of espadrilles. It is so comfortable and light weight. Slip these on and expect people to ask where you get your brilliant fashion inspiration. Whether you’re beach or bistro bound, a pair of espadrilles is a feminine and comfortable way to footnote any ensemble. I was right. The moment I went home, my daughter, Lauren tried it on and now she has it all to herself. What the?
That’s how much the young ones now love the espadrilles.
You may order a pair of Espadrilles at http://espadrillesmanila.multiply.com and view the gallery of Sara Lopez Jute Sole Collection photos which I took yesterday at the Spanish Expo.
Or better yet, grab a pair at the Spanish Expo which will last till Sunday, September 30, 2007. Authentic espadrille from Sara Lopez’s Jute Collection will join Rustan’s roster of international brands.
