Christmas Shopping in Divisoria

The best time to shop in Divisoria is during the weekdays, especially in the mornings. Buying our Christmas decor supplies in Tabora St. proved to be a pleasant experience as we didn’t have to elbow our way to the stalls. Tabora street is lined with glittery Christmas balls, garlands, beads , wreaths at very cheap prices. We usually buy a lot so we can decorate our house with minimal cost. Department stores charge an arm and a leg for Christmas decors. One just needs creativity to come up with the most beautiful Holiday decors to adorn the home.

Christmas comes early to shopping malls. In Robinson’s Galleria, Barbie ballerinas float on the ceilings of the activity center. The effect is pretty and eye catching. The pink and purple colors will surely attract the little girls. What about the boys? Now I am curious what the other malls spruced up for their Christmas shoppers. I can’t wait to see Rustans Department Store. They are the most creative among the shopping places.
Filipina Doll in Sinamay Skirt

What a lovely Filipino doll, a collectors item. Unfortunately it is not for sale. I saw this Filipina doll at Kultura Filipina, on the second floor of SM Mall of Asia. If you look closely at the materials used for the Maria Clara attire of the doll, the skirt is made of sinamay cloth, a handwoven fabric made from stripped fibers of the abaca plant. These fibers come from the stalk of the abaca plant which takes about two years to mature from from planting to processing. This would have been a perfect souvenir gift for Filipino Balikbayans or the Filipino- Americans..
