The visual effects and the music were absoloutely stunning, better than the stage show even. It was a very touching and powerful movie, I almost cried at the end! Definitely a must-see. It helps that I'm a big opera fan. I loved the music and opening scene was beautifully created. I really went to watch for the music (+ hunky Phantom). One down side is that I couldn't connect to the heroine. She was my least fave character in the whole movie, as well as her fiancee. I was rooting for the Phantom all the way (tall, dark, handsome + beautiful voice). I watched Phantom of the Opera and loved it. It helps that I’m a big opera fan. I just finished reading a review on Constantine in the latest US weekly mag... They gave it 3 1/2 out of 4 stars. What's Good: Very stylish, up to par with Matrix, Keanu gets to wear a lot of black, there's a dandy devil in pinstripes...good acting, big budget supernatural thriller. What's Bad: twisty narrative, script is guilty of lots of cornball comments like this one from Constantine: "God's a kid with an ant farm." Plenty of scare tactics but not terribly complex.
