sick
I’m sick right now and I don’t know why. This morning, a fever came from out of nowhere and it was so bad that I had to lie down for hours. While I was lying down my limbs felt so heavy, it took great effort for me to be able to move them. The fever broke sometime this afternoon and I feel a little better now, but I’d really rather just lie down and maybe read because I have absolutely no energy to do anything else.
I was so bored the past couple of days, I resorted to hunting around the house for interesting DVDs and reading back issues of National Geographic. Apparently we have a DVD of this cool Japanese samurai movie called Zatoichi and this other movie about the aborigines of Australia called Rabbit-Proof Fence. I liked Zatoichi better–it was so bloody and gory, and I loved how the characters moved in rythym to the music in some of the scenes.
My eyes hurt, I think I’ll go back to lying down.

I mean, come on. The last time my name was printed in a newspaper was in an obituary (not mine, obviously ;p).

The article was so big, it wouldn’t fit the scanner but it can be viewed here. (Read it! Read it!) And for those who are curious, this is the article I reacted to. (Don’t bother! Life is too short to waste your time on that drivel!)
And for some reason, they included this image in my article:

You can’t see the suicide note from here, but it says: “I wish to thank no one. Everyone is against me.” *slaps forehead* That’s the kind of crap I would’ve written when I was fifteen and full of angst. ;p Tina asked me if the artist ever met me because she says the girl bears an uncanny resemblance to me. Well, he didn’t. I don’t think he even read the article. ;p
So yeah. I’m so going to do this again–get published in a newspaper, I mean. I didn’t get paid, but I gotta admit, it was a lot of fun. ![]()
Girl Power
No school today because of Quezon City day, but instead of having a social life, I spent today catching up on schoolwork, papers mostly. While I was looking up on stuff for a paper for my film class, I read this article from Ophelia Speaks written by some angsty 15 year old who says “girl power” is just a marketing tool used by those evil capitalists and women should grow the hair on their legs and not be pretty in order to become a real feminist. Funny, I always thought that feminism meant women fighting for the same rights men have. Just because women want equal rights, doesn’t mean we have to look as ugly as a man in the process, with leg hair that curls and bushy armpits. If that’s how feminism is defined now then I am no feminist.
This will be short because I am sleepy.
