We’re definitely living in a cell phone nation

I have yet to turn 18 (three days!), which is why I was totally caught off guard when I met up my mom after school and she said she had a birthday present for me. True enough, there was a purple gift bag at my feet. I was really curious about its contents, but half of me wanted to wait till my birthday just so I can have something to open on the day itself. Then my mom was like, “If I were you, I’d open it now so that you can use it already.” That was enough for me to make up my mind. I grabbed the gift back and eagerly ruffled through the purple paper wrap.

There was a cardboard box inside, and it had a pretty photograph of two female models on it. At the corner I thought I saw the word “Nokia”. Whoa. No way. I shrieked. “Oh my God..is this what I think it is?”

My mom laughed. “That’s just a box.”

“Oh.” Feeling somewhat ridiculous, I shrugged and opened it, wondering why in the world my mom decided to place my birthday present in a brand new Nokia box. So much for common sense. Now that I look back at it, I can’t believe what an idiot I’ve been. I mean, what else could be in a new Nokia box except, well, a new cellphone?

True enough, inside the box was a 7250i. My jaw just dropped and I just kind of stared at it for a few seconds before I started shrieking again. Okay, I know I’ve already established that I’m not a cellphone person, but I must admit that if I had the chance to get a trendy new phone, I’d get a 7250i. It’s small, it’s cute, and it’s got a built-in digital camera. Of course I never thought I’d actually get one because I know my family isn’t exactly rolling in dough right now and besides, I’m content with any old phone as long as it isn’t bigger than my hand and I can send and receive messages and calls. Still–it was really great to receive one and I hugged and thanked my mom profusely.

The next thing I did after admiring it was–what else–camwhore. ;p I took several pictures of myself, then Tina, who needed a ride home, and then my mom. Haha, I can’t wait for school tomorrow–I’m going to take camwhoring to a whole new level!
