I don’t know why but I stayed home tonight

The sucky thing about getting an A for an essay you wrote for English and everyone else in class knowing all about it is that you feel pressured to do just as good for the next paper you have to turn in because everyone now thinks that you’re an excellent writer and you don’t want to disappoint them by not getting an A next time.

(Did that make any sense?)

I have to think of a topic for a feature article by Monday and it has to be about a place, person or event. I can’t write about myself, which sucks, because I strongly adhere to the principle “write what you know” and there’s nothing else I know more about than myself and what I think of stuff. I’ve been racking my brain for the past hour but I just can’t think of anything to write about (that’s not about myself). I dunno. Maybe spending the afternoon teaching a group of middle-aged men how to use computers for my NSTP kind of used up all my energy. It wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be, and it was even a little amusing. But teaching is not for me. I hate talking for three hours straight. Sure, the experience felt fulfilling and it made me feel good, as though I have finally done my bit for the world. But afterwards I felt so limp and ready to crash.

Anyway, I’m finding it hard to think straight right now. If Six Feet Under wasn’t showing in two hours I would be in bed by now. Stupid HBO people. They shouldn’t have moved it to Saturday nights.

I want a new kitty but I don’t know if my dad will allow me to. They’re giving away free kittens two houses away and they’re all so adorable but I can’t have one. I hope the kitties find good homes, I seriously do. They deserve to live with the most loving humans. When I grow up I am going to have a house full of cats even if their shit stinks and I’m allergic to their fur. Cats are the best pets ever. I will always have a cat with me for the rest of my life.

Now let me go veg in front of the TV.
