The common cold has me

July 11th, 2003 with 137 views

I went through my entire day feeling kind of blah. I still haven’t gotten rid of my colds, which is totally warping up my voice into something else. =P Being sick must be affecting my brain or something because I couldn’t think properly at Lit class. Most of the time I get along okay, and I can even bring myself to recite and stuff (Naturally, the things I say sound so dorky compared to everyone else’s. I swear, I should’ve been placed in Basic English). But today I was only like, “Huh? Huh?” most of the time.

It’s strange; Lit should be my favorite class, but it isn’t. I think it’s because my prof’s voice is very annoying, and because we’re still stuck analyzing this short story called “Dead Stars”. Maybe I’m a retard for not liking it because it’s award-winning, and if it won some award then it must be really good. But the first time I picked it up, I couldn’t get past the first page. I kept re-reading the first few paragraphs over and over again until I forced myself to go on. My prof keeps saying that there was passionate feelings between these two characters, but unfortunately I didn’t detect any passion in it. All they did was talk a lot, and hint about their feelings for each other. I don’t know…when I think of “passion”, I think of the kind of stuff Isable Allende writes. Couples cavorting in the hay or making love in a rickety iron bed. But maybe that’s just me. =P I have to write a paper about freaking Dead Stars over the weekend too…brilliant.

As for my living conditions, well, I slept at my new room last night and it was great. My new roomies are extremely nice and friendly, but then again that’s what I thought when I first met my ex-roommates. =P New Roomies are a lot livelier and friendlier though, and I felt at ease almost right away. Anyway, my mom went to the place today, and although she didn’t like it as much as my old room she said it was okay for me to move there. That is, until we discovered that it costs a freaking 1,200 pesos to move the phone line!!! >:O What the fuck? It’s only one floor down. Sheesh, these Bayantel people. Because of that, I’m only staying in the room downstairs for a week to cool off, and then after that it’s back upstairs again. What a shame. One of the things I like about my new roomies is that they’re open to “taking home” guys, but by the time Jason gets here I won’t be around anymore. Pfft. Oh well.

Blue Babble Cheer Rally was at 1:30 this afternoon but I decided not to go because a) I thought I had to move in my stuff after class, and b) I didn’t feel well enough to deal with the heat and the crowd. I’m glad I opted to go home and sleep because I heard it wasn’t as fun as people thought it would be. Hardly anyone was cheering, and the heat was unbearable. So much for school spirit.

Graffiti written on the desk at my Math 1 class: “So did Ateneo win [the UAAP championship] because God answered our prayers? Or did He just forget to answer La Salle’s ?”

I think the UAAP opening is tomorrow…good luck to the Ateneo Blue Eagles. Last year, I had this feeling they would win. I don’t know about now. (P.S. Does anyone know where I can get tickets for the Ateneo-UE game?)

Good thing you decided to let people view your journal again. I mean, you shouldn’t worry what your (girls gone wild)ex-roomies would say & the heck w/ em. This is your journal & you are free to express what you are feeling.

i totally agree with Allen. But, did you just say in your journal that you were going back upstairs? To your old roommies?!! Good luck. I can imagine how bitchy they’ll be after you’ve been gone for a week.

oh so you’re moving back again. good luck :) oh, the heat was unberable right!! we would rather have opted for our normal afternoon drills than spending time in the gym for CAT!

Laur, I have tickets for the game but it was only given to me by my Babble Blockmate (perks, I guess). It should be a tough game on Sunday since UE’s a tough contender… Btw, Dead Stars is pretty great… :P WHo’s you’re teacher anyway…Why do I have the feeling yours is Mr. Pulan?! Ick…Boring and nasal teacher. Ugh. :-?

Well I thought that maybe I’d make the more really nasty entries password protected, and make the safe ones un-password protected. I find it scary how so many people view my website, so it can’t hurt to be a little careful.

Really? Wow…I thought CAT would be just as hot cos don’t you have to be under the sun for that?

  7. Lauren on July 12, 2003 11:02 am

Nope, my teacher’s not Mr. Pulan; she’s female. I don’t know…Dead Stars just doesn’t appeal to me. :-? Eeeep, Sunday na pala yung Ateneo-UE game! I doubt I can get tickets for that now.

anyway, did you pass by the blue eagle gym later that day wearing a white top and jeans? :/

  9. Lauren on July 12, 2003 04:13 pm

Nope, I went home right after class because I felt too sick to do anything else.

Hi! I have been reading your blog for some time now. I’m from LaSalle and I was able to watch the 3rd game last year. And I can say that it was a well-fought one. Ateneo deserved the crown.
TICKETS for Ateneo-LaSalle games are harder to get than a perfect score in Algebra! Araneta Center becomes a Scalper Haven… you’ll see! Good Luck and God Bless!
