Tears of pain, joy, sadness, and annoyance

I don’t know what exactly happens on Faculty Day, but whatever that is, I’m glad it exists because I have a long (well, two more days) weekend ahead of me! :D

I went home to Makati after my math class yesterday and I’m telling you, it depressed me so much that I couldn’t bring myself to do anything else except worry about it. It was just so hard to believe how I couldn’t comprehend basic algebra. Stuff I took up in high school. Everyone else seemed to understand, but me? I was a drooling idiot, staring blankly at the equations on the board. I’ll try to work on my math this weekend though; maybe it will make me smarter and help me avoid summer classes. As if.

Today was awesome. Chris SMSed me yesterday about seeing a movie. I had just SMSed Angelica earlier and I thought that this would be a perfect time for us to get together since she was on her way home from Los Baños. So we made plans to see The Hulk at Greenbelt 3 this afternoon. While waiting for Angelica to show up, I had my legs waxed and my eyebrows threaded. Gawd, all the pain I have to go through in order to get rid of my unwanted hair!!! >:O Leg waxing is…agony. But at least the lady who was doing it was really nice. She would talk to me while removing the strip in order to distract me from my pain.

Hair wax lady: Whatever you do, do not get a bikini wax.
*remove wax strip*
Me: *fighting back tears of paaaaiiiin* Why?
Hair wax lady: Because it hurts so much! I remember this one time, I had to do a bikini wax on this American girl.
*remove wax strip*
Hair wax lady: I felt so sorry for her because the skin was bleeding.

My boyfriend, who says totally shaved turns him on, will have to make do with a hairy vagina. :P

After I was done getting pampered (more like getting maimed, but whatever) (beauty is pain), I waited for Angelica at Landmark for almost an hour. Gawd. What in the world does she do that takes her forever to meet me? If she wasn’t my best friend, I would have left her after a thirty minute wait. But I’m the kind of person who likes to make sacrifices for her friends, so I stayed. Really though–making me wait is the worse thing you could ever do to me. Not only is it very boring; knowing that I might have done other things with my spare time instead of waiting for your royal highness to arrive is very annoying. To top it off, all those cute sandals on display were depressing me. I didn’t have enough money to buy them. :(

After ten years, Angelica finally arrived. We spent a few minutes gabbing about college before walking off to meet Chris at Music One. It sounds like UP Los Banos is a very fun place; I’m glad she’s having a great time there. Chris, on the other hand, is counting the days before he leaves for Boston. The past few days, he has been doing nothing but bum around the house and organize the stuff he will bring with him to the States.

We were all hungry and since we had over an hour till The Hulk starts, we decided to have lunch.

Angelica: So where are we gonna eat?
Me and Chris: Someplace cheap!

Chris’ thriftiness is rubbing off on me. :P

We ate at Big Buddha, relieved that we didn’t have to resort to eating at the food court. Not that there’s anything wrong with eating at the food court; it’s just that it doesn’t feel pleasant walking around smelling like Chinese food/steak/Japanese food/cooking oil. After an inexpensive but very good meal, we headed off to the cinemas and took our seats so we could catch the trailers. While waiting, Angelica noticed that the two guys in front of us were listening to an F4 CD. Words cannot express how completely baffled I am at how almost everyone in this country has been caught in the Meteor Garden/F4 craze. I hate, hate, hate that show!!! It’s stupid, melodramatic, unrealistic, and chock-full of every single soap opera cliche I can think of. The only difference I can see between other soap operas and Meteor Garden are the actors’ ethnicities. Bah. To each his own. Maybe everyone else likes soap operas, but I think that soap operas suck and therefore, Meteor Garden sucks.

The Hulk kind of sucked too. The story was very predictable, though I have to admit that I do like the cinematography. Still, it wasn’t worth the 150 pesos I spent on it. :P Script sucked too.

David Banner: The nanogens seemed to have made me a hundred times more–
Me: VIRILE!!!

Seeing Angelica and Chris again made me feel really happy. Once again, I must say that I’m really going to miss Chris when he leaves for Boston. :( It’s a good thing that Angelica and I can still hang out on weekends if we have time. Strange how it still feels like I’m gonna be seeing her at school on Monday.

I think we saw the 2:40 show. Hehe. No wonder I thought I saw Ateneans when we were watching people come into the theater! Oh well, making fun of the movie was fun. Maybe you’re already used to having your legs waxed. This was only my second time, but then it was less painful that the first time. :)

waxing gets less and less painful with time, definitely. it’s just like plucking eyebrows to me now: painless. personally the eyebrow threading is more painful that waxing to me. i was weeping when i got my brows threaded in the philippines! do they do a good job, though? i’m tempted to try it when i come this time. i just don’t want them to make them too thin or asymmetrical.

You mean it now costs you 150 pesos just to watch a movie? I can vaguely remember how much it costs me four years ago.

Anyway, the reason why we no longer watch movies here is because most movies now adays have lost its sense so it’s only a waste of time and money. What we do is just download movies from the internet. I even got to download the hulk before it was even shown on the theaters, and you’re right it wasn’t that good.
