Save me from the nothing I am doing

June 10th, 2003 with 200 views

Guess where I’m writing this from? :D The phone company installed the line at the dorm today, so now I’ve got access to the internet and a working landline phone. :) I still can’t believe that this is finally it. The moment I have been waiting for for years now. College. Semi-independent living. Katipunan Avenue at night. I feel so….old.

I’ve been here since 5 p.m. and I gotta admit that I’m a little bored. I’ve run out of people to call and the book I am reading right now is just too depressing. One of my roommates is here, but I haven’t the guts nor the gift of gab to start befriending her. :P Maybe if I get the chance, I’ll say something to her. But right now, she seems to be doing stuff at her desk. She’s been here all afternoon, playing her CDs. My other roomies are nowhere in sight.

If Jason was awake, I would be on the phone with him at this very moment. But he’s not. :P If I were at home right now, I would be watching TV or playing something on the Playstation. My mom won’t let me have a TV at the dorm cos it’d be a distraction, which doesn’t really bother me cos I hardly ever watch TV anyway. But today is one of the days where I wish there was a TV with HBO around. Six Feet Under is on tonight and if I don’t arrive home early on Friday, I’m going to miss it. :(

ORSEM (Orientation Seminar) is tomorrow morning at 6:30 and I’m not really as nervous as I thought I would be. I’m too bored to be nervous. I guess I’ll just try to be as nice as I can and hopefully I’ll make another really good friend tomorrow.

Nothing else is new except that it sure feels weird to be living in a strange new place, with no parents or anything around. And I am so not used to slow dial-up internet.

If anyone wants to give me a call or anything, feel free to do so. :P

Reading your entries lately made me miss my college life so much. All the trouble of having to wait on the line and just to find out the class is already full by the time you get there is still something I’d do over and over again. First few weeks is kinda rough for the new studes, I was just lucky my sister was already there, she was my roommate and it did help a lot even though we had some fights together :-) Good luck Lauren and enjoy every moment of your college life.
