A tiny little taste of the real world
Wow. I did so many things today. I had a blood test, and then after I visited my aunt at QC, I went to my dorm to get the key and pick out my bed. There are two bunk beds, and one of my roommates must’ve gone there earlier today because she already reserved one of the lower bunks for herself. Thank God I went early because I was able to get the other lower bunk for myself. There is no way I am clambering up that ladder day in and day out (in case you don’t know, I am deathly afraid of heights :P). Let people step all over my bed. Let the upper bunk fall down on me and crush me in my sleep. Just don’t let me fall to my death!!!
Oh yes, and did I mention that today, my mom got me my very own phone line for the dorm?
I am soooooo happy! I’m just kind of worried that my roommates might end up using my phone more than I will. Even though it’s mine, I have this really nasty habit of saying “yes” to practically everyone who asks me for a favor. Even if I don’t like a person I’m still most likely to say “yes” to whatever s/he wants done or borrowed. I guess the reason why I do that is because I like to stay in good terms with people. When I say “no” to people, I feel like they’re gonna get so mad at me, they’d never talk to me again. Of course, that has never happened but still. I (almost) always say yes anyway. I seriously hope that this will change when I go to college. It’s good to do people favors, but a lot of them abuse my kindness, which is why I am slowly losing faith in mankind these days. My roommates can use the phone and my mom says they don’t even have to share payment with me. But when I want to use it, they have to hang up right now or else.
I also did my dorm-stuff shopping today. Apparently, my dorm doesn’t have hot water in the shower and my mom had to buy a water heater. So I guess that means that I’ll be heating my bath water myself for the rest of the year, or until I move to a place with running hot water. o_O Yes, I am a little bitch spoiled by hot showers and helpers who usually do this kind of stuff for me. I don’t know what it’s like to heat my own water, but I’m not that much of a senorita and I’m sure that I can do it. Hopefully I won’t get electrocuted or anything like that.
According to my dad, his old computer (which will be given to me) has been upgraded to Pentium 4. So I set it up today, really excited to start transferring all my programs and mp3s and stuff. To my horror, I saw that it was only a Pentium 2. 4 gigabytes, half of which are taken up by my dad’s files and programs, which I must absolutely not touch! At first, I thought I was doomed to the slowness of an ancient computer for the rest of my college life. But apparently, my dad’s still gonna have it upgraded this week.
I can’t believe he doesn’t even know what kind of Pentium his old computer is! I swear, he is so computer illiterate.
(Edit: Hehe, I’m getting a new computer after all! I guess he realized that it would be hella better than a mere upgrade. The motherboard is pretty old anyway. Yayness! Love you, Dad.)
Must….lose….weight….now…..

All I can say is that if you get tired of your roomates, you can spend you night at my house. Yes, we have hot water.
One of the perks of this house.
Phone are at every corner of the house and there are 3 lines available for you to burn. Glad to see that you staked your claim at the room! It’s true about the ‘yes’ syndrome, you’re not alone, you’ve got me to share that trait, AS USUAL. Hehe.
Now go to the orsem board at IRC *shoves Lauren there*
Hehe, I’m there right now. But I don’t know what time you wrote this so you might not be there anymore. But if you ever happen to be there when I am, my username’s deep_purple.
DORMS! I have plenty of memories staying at the dorm when I was in College. Water heater does a lot of wonders for us, aside from using it to warm our bath, we use it for cooking noodles, corns (that we steal from the farm) which will take 2 good hours to cook. Then we toast our bread (monay) by pressing it with the iron. Staying in the dorm helped us being resourceful… and fat
Have fun lauryn. Hey, being nice is ok, but when people get too much out of it, they tend to forget the value of it.
Lauren, we seriosuly need to bitch you up
It’s ok to say no! In fact, it’s also alright to be a bitch if you want to be…lol. Learn from the master
The key there is to print a cute poster on top of the phone stand that says something like:
This is ’s phone. For emergency use only for those who don’t own it.
Here are the ten reasons why you should date a Bosconian as published by Seventeen Philippines:
1) Because he has minimal interaction with the opposite sex, he would most likely appreciate the female species more.
He lives and breathes mathematics and therefore do wonders to your algebra average.*
2) He wouldn’t act as cocky as your regular university guy because he gets less practice in the department.
3) He’d be more gentlemanly because he’s not exposed to the reality that this is no longer expected of him.
4) You’d be his “one and only” because he has no “field” to play in.
5) He won’t be ditching you for a night out with the boys because he’s practically sick of being with the boys.
6) A huge sign that says, “Jump. Run. Make noise. But do not sin” is the focal point of their gym, so he has got to be nice, at the very least.
7) You won’t have to force him to go to the barbershop because long-backers are a no-no in his campus.*
9) He’ll always look his best when he’s with you because it’s not everyday that he (or anyone else for that matter) actually cares about his appearance.*
10) Finally, he is taught to “do his ordinary duties extraordinarily well,” which can’t be a bad thing.
ah dads and computers, mine knows nuts abt them too, he thinks all comps are one and the same old or new
yay new computer!!! i got a new computer for college too when i went.. well okay i got it a year earlier during the beginning of my sr year though
Wow…lotsa comments.
I’m really excited about the dorm, but what Garland said really worries me. Not to mention that I am completely surrounded by fast food restaurants! o_O But maybe I’ll burn all the calories because I’ll have to walk quite a bit in order to get to the buildings where my classes will be.
About what Jane Louie posted, let me point out that I know Bosconians who are cocky, ungentlemanly, players, and clueless about math. Maybe there are Bosconians who have all the yummy qualities you’ve mentioned, but I haven’t met them yet. In any case, I’m not looking for someone to date. I am happily taken.
I need lessons on how to be more assertive. Hehe.
hi agen.i read through ur past posts nd came across ur jan 10, ‘03 post…twas bout ua&p.nd yea u did stereotype a bit.thre are a lot (nd i mean a lot) of pretty gUrlz thr (as well as cute guys) but there’s more to uap than rich kids with expensive cars (not every1 has a car). well for the first year we have to attain a 2.75 ave w/c is ok. for sophies a 2.5 is a must..nd not everyone passes so an average of 100 sophomores get kicked out each year w/c is sad.then for the juniors a whoppppping 2.25 grade should be attained but then we have to be superman to do that cuz third year is the most difficult year in our school.during my first year i experienced having to write 7 papers all due in a single week plus other projects and homeworks.now i cant imagine how the hell im gonna survive my 3rd year.
newayz, hope u get what i mean.i lufff my school even if it has (well) a small campus.
tc lauryn!
much mwahzzz.:P
I love UA&P, it’s a great school…Of course, it helps that my crush is going to study there this school year…:D No really, it’s true that there are these super pretty girls there that are quite intimidating. But it’s also true what Midge says, that you have to attain a certain GPA to pass, I mean, you have right? Since you’re going to get your MA in 5 years. Ang galing na with that di ba? It gives a homey atmosphere for thos who like that kind of jazz.
I passed UAP but opted for ADMU since the more my mom pushed me to go to UAP, the more I wanted to go to ADMU…Hehe. Plus the fact that she’s an Opus Dei member…Ugh.
Laur, if you’re going to lose weight, you have to do it now. Seriously, I did it in April. We’re going to get reaaaaallly fat in ADMU since we have these super long breaks that all you can do is eat…Hehe.
gosh, its be tough living in a dorm and away from your family. i was given a choice if i wanna stay in a dorm or go home everyday. since im very much attached to this house of ours i decided to stay here. i just wish that i wont regret this in the end coz the long trip to ust will prolly kill me everyday of this year. ooh the pains of a student! you’re too lucky you got everything you need in your dorm. even your own phone line! im getting jealous and envy…. ;P
i had a slight problem with my roommate’s boyfriend spending so much time in our room. but other than that, my roommate and i got along very well. i hope u and all your roommates become tight buds as well. gud luck!
Midge: That’s the exact same reason why I didn’t want to go to UAP! Too many units.
I do want to enjoy my college life, you know. And in any case, I’m in no rush to get my master’s degree.
Paula: Long breaks? What long breaks??? AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
Help me naman..what can I do to lose weight?
Fran: I can actually just stay at home but the thing is, it’s VERY traffic going to Ateneo because they’re constructing an MRT station on the other end of Katipunan. We don’t have a driver and if my mom will bring me to school everyday like that, she’ll go crazy. I’ll be going home on weekends though.
Emgie: I sure hope I get along with my roomies too!
