I was going to have a grad ball but events conspired

I’ve got an interview at University of Asia and the Pacific (UAP) tomorrow morning together with Patsy and Kriya. I actually found out about it two days ago, and about half the batch knew about it before I did. I was kind of surprised, because not only did I guess a lot of the math and biology questions, I fell asleep during the English part. Chris told me that getting called for the interview means that you’ve passed the written test. That’s good. But then again, he told me that the ACET results would be out on January 4. They weren’t.

It’s cool that our interviews are right after each other because being with someone I know at times like these makes me feel less nervous. Even if I am the only underachiever in the group. However, when Patsy found out about our interviews, she was like, “I’m really glad that I’m with you guys! That way we can give our school a good image. Not to be mean or anything, though.” That has to be one of the best compliments I’ve ever received.

I’ve got kind of a problem though. Well, it’s nothing serious but it’s an important problem nonetheless. I don’t know what to wear. I normally don’t stress over trivial things like that, but this is a different situation. I had planned on wearing white capri pants and this black knitted turtleneck sort-of halter top. I look very college-like in that outfit. Then I remembered that sleeveless tops aren’t allowed in UAP for some magical reason. Grrr. Kriya suggested that I wear something preppy, like a blouse with a collar on it, but then I don’t wear clothes like that. I don’t want to wear a skirt because my legs aren’t waxed, and after the interview I’m going to go to different high schools to promote Aida. I want to wear pants. But I don’t know what top I should wear with it!

*panic*

In other news, our graduation ball has been cancelled because my batchmates have no money to pay for the hotel, gown and all that shit. I can’t believe that they’re willing to spend thousands and thousands on cheerleading but they can’t even give a single peso towards the graduation ball. The only high school experiences I have yet to feel are graduation and a high school formal. I cannot believe that this is happening.

Of course, I’m not letting this go without a fight. I may not be influential enough to somehow convince my batchmates to change their minds, but I can get myself invited to someone else’s grad ball. While I was on the phone with Chris earlier, I changed the topic from mp3 players to the cancelled grad ball.

“Don’t you have like a committee to fight for that thing?” he asked.

I sighed. “No. My school is very small, and we won’t have enough people for a grad ball committe.”

“Really? Oh well, that’s too bad.”

I saw my chance. “I know! I’ve been looking forward to it all year. It really sucks because my high school experience feels somewhat incomplete without attending a single high school formal. And now I won’t even have that.”

It was a very subtle hint, but I should’ve known better than to be subtle around dense guys like Chris.

“Yeah, I know what you mean,” he said. “Anyway, about the Creative Nomad II 128MB mp3 player…”

And the moment was gone.

Perhaps I should have just spelled it out for him and asked if he already has a date for his grad ball, and if he didn’t, that I’m very available. But I’m not that desperate.

But ai, it’s like this music trip that’s going on over here. A trip to cleveland, in the states. I REALLY wanted to go, but none of my other friends in music in my grade want to go! And their excuse?! MONEY! my god!.. they spend so much on taking card pictures, going out with friends, going out, and stuff, yet no money for the yearly music trip? they didn’t go last year either. They’re all sheep :P

But good luck lauryn! Get acouple of people wanting to go and interested, and more shall follow :)
