It’s gonna be a long December

December 1st, 2002 with 119 views

What a boring weekend. No gimmicks, nothing, though I did go out briefly this afternoon with my friends to watch this dance competition at UP. All I did for the past two days was study for my SATs and work on my English paper. Can you believe that I have four short stories to analyze by Wednesday? Four! I swear to God, my English teacher is so incompetent. I bet she just wants us to write down the characters and what we think of the story or something. No teacher would tell their students to write a critical anaylsis on four stories within one week. I need to write that paper based on international standards because I’m submitting it to this college I’m applying for. So far I’ve only done my analysis on two stories, but I’m not even sure if I did them correctly. Whatever…

I shudder to think of the things I will be doing this week. Play rehearsals daily after school. SATs on Saturday. Glee Club competition on Sunday (which could mean Glee Club rehearsals daily). And my God, Filipino class three times a week. Normally, I don’t stress over Filipino class, but our lesson this quarter is brutal. Sentence diagramming! The thing about me is that I’m really lousy when it comes to technical stuff in language, like grammar. If I’m already bad at it in English, I’m a hundred times worse in Filipino. Until now I still cannot tell the difference between a pang-abay and a pang-uri. Ahh! I’m really not used to being an active student in school and worrying over grades. Life was so much easier when I just sat in class and took down notes and wrote a short story for the school paper every now and then. Can you believe that the last movie I saw was The Chamber Of Secrets? I always see one movie every week, or at least, every other week. I don’t even have time for that now. (Whoa, that last line doesn’t sound like me at all.)

I can’t wait for the 13th because the senior class will be going hiking on Mt. Banahaw in Quezon (this province several hours away from here). This is the first time I will go hiking, and it’s definitely going to be an entirely different experience. When we were told about it last Friday, my initial reaction surprised me–sometimes I can be so shallow.

Angelica: “How scary! What if we fall down the mountain or something?”
Glyka: “Whoa, it sounds so tiring…”
Denilou: “YOu think there’ll be a signal up there? I mean, just in case we get separated or lost, at least we can still contact each other.”
me: “What will I wear?!”

I hope we don’t get kidnapped by guerillas or something.

you think 4 short stories is bad? My friend is taking up pol sci in ateneo and for one class she has to read about 400 pages about something or other (I think she was reading aristotle last week) in a week, sometimes more. That’s just for one class and she’s only a sophomore. *shudders*. I’m glad i decided not to take up pol sci!

well, our field trip was cancelled because some parents who are from the military expressed concern over our safety. as a matter of fact, the communist rebels are very very active this christmas season (they have bombed so many cell stations and other capitalist factories in the provinces). and since the communists have a command center in Banahaw (Banahaw Command), there…

but i dont think they will even dare to terrorize the religious aprt of the mountain. thats where we are all staying and hiking anyway. so i hate it because i dont think there shoudl be any problem.
