It took me a while to do my college essay. And then when I started writing, I wrote too much. Just focus on your goals, and what you want to do with you life. I think that’s what colleges look for. Good luck.

Basically, everyone comes across sounding fairly moronic on their college entrance essays, simply because the topics they give kind of leave you with no other option. Don’t worry about it - just write the best you can, and forget about it.
