It’s wanting what you’ve got

I think I might’ve found myself a new friend today. For those who don’t know, I’ve been e-mailing this girl named Miao who studies at the University of the Philippines. Before school ended, she found me at this riotgrrl boards advertising for bandmates and she e-mailed me saying that she needed a guitarist for her band. But then last month that band broke up and now she wants to form a new band with me and this other bassist. She e-mailed me her landline number today and when I found myself with nothing to do early this evening, I called her up. She has a small voice, something I didn’t expect; for some reason I always thought she’d sound like Kathleen Hanna (from Bikini Kill). After awhile she started to sound a lot like Celina, my grade school best friend. While we were talking, I kept picturing in my head that it was Celina on the other end and it felt kind of weird. Anyhow, Miao and I got along great–we talked for an hour and a half about stuff like high school, music and guys. We’re going to meet up with each other on Monday at 1 p.m. and I’m looking forward to it. I do hope we find a drummer soon because I don’t have anything to do next week. Miao suggested that we start rehearsing some songs by ourselves anyway so maybe we’ll do that. It’s better than just staying at home, at least.

This morning I went to my Auntie Belen’s clinic to get my pimples treated. For some reason a huge pimple suddenly materialized an inch below my lower lip and it hurts a bit. My mom and my sister came along too and after my aunt did the necessary injections and removed the blackheads on my nose, we went out to lunch at Robinsons Ermita. There are a lot of good restaurants around, I should go there more often. My sister and I discovered this big store called Whooops! that has a lot of cool clothes. Their jeans are especially nice and there’s this cool white top that I want. They’ve also got really cool denim dresses. All the good clothes come out whenever I’m broke. It sucks so much that I don’t have any money right now!

This certainly is a small world–or a small country. ;) I can’t believe you guys know Miao, that’s so cool. Don’t worry, when I become famous I won’t forget all the people who were nice to me. Daynah–tell Al to introduce me to his cousin. ;) Is he cute? And is he by chance, friends with Makoto? (dumb question but you never know…it’s a small world after all!)
