Here comes the summer sun

April 5th, 2002 with 203 views

Ugh, today is like one of the hottest days in the summer. You could practically taste the moisture from the humidity with your tongue. I was supposed to bake cookies this afternoon but it felt like agony to stay away from an electric fan for so long. So I just stayed in the comfort of my room where the temperature is way cooler than any other place in the house. Dad had the car all day and I couldn’t go out. I didn’t mind; I don’t have any money anyway.

My hair is so awful right now because of the stupid heat. It feels so sticky and when I run my fingers through it, it’s like it gets caught in tangles or something. Having long hair in the summer is such a bitch but short hair doesn’t look that nice on me. Either look good or feel good; I choose to look good. I mean, I don’t wanna spend two months sporting a hair cut that doesn’t go with me. I’d rather tolerate the heat that my long hair traps at the back of my neck.

Right now I am re-reading I Know This Much Is True by Wally Lamb. I like to read while I’m lying down and that book is a bitch to read because it’s so thick. But it’s really good so I don’t really mind feeling so uncomfortable. Thick books are good to read during those long, hot summer days when you have nothing better to do. And my endless summer days are running short because soon I will be having my college entrance exam review classes. What worries me most is that some people from my school might be taking the class–particularly the people I don’t like. For some reason, none of my friends wanted to take review classes which means that I’m all alone. I’m quite sure that everyone else in the review class will be with other people they know and it worries me that I’ll be the only loner there. I sure hope not.

Lauryn, I LOVE that book. It’s amazing! I don’t know how far into it you are yet but it just keeps getting better and better. I own it and it’s definitely one of my top three favorite books of all time, and I read a lot so that means something. When you’re done tell me what you thought of it. I even thought that it was better than She’s Come Undone, although I really like that book too. Happy reading!
