Unless you’ve read–not seen, but read–The Fellowship of the Ring you probably don’t know who or what Nimrodel is. Well, Nimrodel is this elf who lived in this stream in the forest of Lothlorien. Nimrodel.net is my online journal. This website is not about fictional elven-lore but rather, it is about myself and my thoughts and what I do everyday. I chose the name Nimrodel for my domain because I think it sounds pretty. But in the first place, I wanted a new domain because my old one, the-protagonist.net was becoming more of a community rather than my personal website. The Protagonist was the name of my journal when I turned 14. I felt like my journal needed its own space, separate from the boards, because then I’d have my very own domain. Another excuse for a new domain name.the-protagonist.net is now my collective site. I host all my sites at my new business, Protagonist Webhosting Services. It’s very affordable starting at $US 3.00 per month for 50 MB diskspace and 1 GB bandwidth a month. You might be interested in getting your very own server space so check it out.

Like I said, this journal is about the thoughts, works, emotions and accomplishments of your average eighteen year old girl. It is a form of self-expression for certain opinions and feelings that I don’t want to share with my friends offline. However few they may be, I have great friends but somehow they just don’t seem to understand me when I moan and whine about life’s complexities and how much I hate high school. So I write all my uncensored thoughts down here. I’ve been doing that ever since December 1996–this is my 9th year ! (You might want to read the archives)

I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinions and if you don’t like mine, you are free to leave. (Especially if you’re from my school, because might be a huge possibility that I have written about you. What you don’t know won’t hurt you.) I always love a good debate though, so drop me a line if you feel like discussing any of my entries with me. Please write your comments or discuss it with me at my pucker off forums. Or simply sign my guestbook or email me.

Thanks for dropping by. Enjoy reading!

Other Friends From School

Friends From School

Yes, in spite of myself, I actually have other friends in my high school. :P I’m not entirely unlikeable you know. Actually, not all of them are my friends; some are just mere acquaintances that I happen to mention in some entries. I’d put them in a different page but I’m too lazy for that right now.

Alys
Alys is an extremely talented person. You name it, she’s got it–brains, a really good singing voice and would you believe it, she’s already been accepted in Ateneo de Manila University through this summer program. We aren’t particularly close, but we hang out with each other at Cue (the La Salle drama club).

Angela/Kriya
I don’t really tell this to anyone, but I look at Kriya (that’s what everyone calls her) as a sort of big sister. She’s a really smart, outgoing, not to mention talkative person with a strong personality and a lot of confidence for a teenager. Her mom gives all these seminars about self-improvement, which is why she’s like that. Kriya is everything I want in an older sister (unfortunately, I was born the oldest) because sometimes I find myself thinking, “Wow. I want to be like her.” Howerver, I also like to think of her as a gimmick-mate because most of the time, we’re only together when there’s a party or something. We aren’t exactly friends in the way that I am friends with my barkada. But she’s really fun to be with, and once in awhile we get together and talk about life in general for a long time.

Annie
I got to know Annie when somehow, during freshman year, we got around to talk about anime. We’ve been classmates since grade seven and she’s quite special to me because we have one thing in common that I don’t have with my other friends: music. We have the same tastes and I really like it when she orders CDs from me because if it were not for her, I wouldn’t have heard some of the songs that I like a lot right now. Sometimes she’d call me up and then we’d talk for hours about bands, and the people in school and stuff. We also both went through a time in our lives when everything felt hopeless and we just wanted to die. She actually tried to kill herself during Christmas Eve by swallowing a bottleful of acetone. Fortunately, all she got was a stomach ache. For awhile I hung out with her barkada (Kapst, Glaiza and some other girls) more than I did with mine, but we’re still good friends even though we go around with different people now.

Dina
When we were in sophomore year, she told me I was her best friend and best friends we became. For awhile. Then I heard all these rumors from everyone that Dina uses people and that it’s not a good idea to hang out with her. I ended up dumping her and for awhile she became really depressed. I felt guilty about that for the longest time, but then things happen for a reason. She’s Glyka’s best friend now, which is a really good thing because they have a lot more in common anyway. I probably wouldn’t have lasted as Dina’s best friend for long anyway, because we’re just way too different. I’m really feminine, and during that time she was still a thrasher (pipes, trendy clothes..you get the idea). And then the guys she likes are…well, not the kind of guys I like. Somehow she managed to forgive me and forget about what had happened before and I no longer feel guilty because at least, she was able to find real friends that are more like her.

Dyancel
Pronounced jan-cell, we became friends during freshman year. She used to be a total goody-goody, and looked like your typical, shy, Maria Clara. Then she met new friends, got a haircut, plucked her eyebrows, and gained some confidence. It was easier to be friends with her when her personality changed. We used to hang out a lot with each other during sophomore year, but then we drifted apart somehow and now we barely even say hi when we pass each other in the hall.

Glaiza
It’s really not a good idea to judge a book by its cover. I used to really hate her guts before. You know how sometimes every single action a person does can really irritate you and drive you nuts? Well that’s kind of how I felt about her at first. She’s so finicky and has this really high-pitched voice that can break your eardrums when she laughs. I never thought we’d get to be friends. I got to know her through Kriya during sophomore year and I realized that she wasn’t so bad after all. Another one of my gimmick-mates, she’s really good at makeup and doing hairstyles. She’s kind of catty though, which is why I don’t like hanging out with her so much.

Jo Elize
Another one of those people I never thought I’d be friends with, Jo Elize picked on me when I was a new student for no apparent reason. When I learned that we’d be roommates during my freshman year retreat I was like, “Shit, why her?” I thought she’d be a total bitch, and that I’d have a miserable time. But we ended up spending half the night talking to each other. She’s really into Hollywood celebrities and the TV show Charmed, and when I was a little bit of Hollywood gossip all I have to do is go to her and she’ll give me all the details. Just recently, I reminded her about that time she said that I was a reject back in grade seven, and she apologized to me about a million times even though she swore she couldn’t remember doing that. I’ve forgiven her already a long time ago of course.

Kapst
I got to know Kapst through Glaiza and she’s really great to talk to because she’s very opinionated. She always has something to say about everything, which I thought was cool at first. But then I realized that she criticizes people way too much, and that it’s annoying how she always sees something negative in everything. For awhile, I stopped hanging out with her but ever since we both found out that we have the same IQ, we learned to understand each other a little bit more. It’s kind of hard to explain the bond between us but anyway, she’s all right. I enjoy having debates with her.

Nenok
Her real name’s Vanessa but nobody calls her that. She used to be one of the people I really hate in my batch because she can be real bossy abt bitchy. She talks like a palengkera when she’s mad, and she’s almost always mad at someone. But I got to know her a little over the summer and although I still don’t know her that well, I found out that she could actually be nice to you if she thinks you’re okay.

Nikki
Nikki and I were always together during freshman year. She used to be this really quiet, shy person but then she got to know Dina and now she always laughing and making these really smart, sarcastic comebacks. She’s still quiet around people she doesn’t know very well but she’s *very* talkative when I’m with her.

Patsy
Patsy is a real people person. Class President two years in a row. Student Council secretary. A million friends. We used to talk a lot back in junior year but ever since she and Michelle got back together, she stopped hanging out with me. Sometimes I think the only reason why she was so nice to me is so I could put in a good word for her to Michelle. That kind of pissed me off but oh well. She’s not that bad though; a very nice and diplomatic person.

Princess/Borj
Borj is the smartest girl in my batch. She’s skipped seventh grade, which makes her my age, but her grades are really high. Who gets a 95 average? Nobody. You’d think that she’d be the nerdy, quiet type just because she’s so smart but the thing is, she’s really noisy in class. She always jokes around and makes these witty comments. One of her talents is her ability to imitate people. She’s amazing–she can mimick the principal’s voice and my Calculus teacher’s mannerisms quite perfectly. Really nice girl–I don’t know anyone who hates her or finds her annoying.

Rajelyn
Jeje (which is what everyone calls her) and I became friends when we were in sophomore year. I never thought I’d get to know her because she’s one of the popular people in my batch and naturally, I assumed that she was snobby or something. But we ended up sitting next to each other and class and I found out that I was wrong. She’s really very nice; she talks a lot and I’m never bored when I’m around her. But come the inter-batch cheerleading competition–she can become a real bitch. I suppose it’s because she’s the head cheerleader, and every year we’re always pressured to win. It can get annoying but I can’t blame her.

Tracy
She has got to be one of the most talented people I’ve ever met. Not only has she been a member of the Philippine Repertory ever since sixth grade but she is also a terrific actress, singer, artist and can play the drums, guitar, piano and the violin. It was because of her that I got kind of involved in theater. She encouraged me to join the school play (she’s very persuasive) and Cue. It’s amazing how such a gifted person can still stay so humble in spite of all the attention and recognition she receives at school.

Trina
She’s the first friend I made when I was a new student back in seventh grade. I noticed that she’s kind of like the “welcoming committee”–she always befriends the new students and makes them feel right at home. She’s a really sweet person because she hugs people spontaneously. Also a very reliable source on the latest Hollywood gossip.
