about this site
Technical Stuff:
Starting March 11, 2004, this site converted from b2 to wordpress. Here are some hacks and tips that I’ve added to this site:
Use b2 to wordpress tutorial if you want to convert your b2 blog.
Using Wordpress version 1.5 as of May 7, 2005
1. Theme Switcher and wordpress themes
2. Bad Behavior- Bad Behavior is a set of PHP scripts which prevents spambots from accessing your site by analyzing their actual HTTP requests and comparing them to profiles from known spambots. It goes far beyond User-Agent and Referer, however.
3. Recent Comments plugin
4. WordPress 1.5 Plugin: Referrer Bouncer - A Plugin to bounce referrer spammer bots (and humans)

Technical Info about this site (up to March 11, 2004):
- Uses themes or skins and allows you the freedom to customize how this site looks while you’re browsing.
- It uses the b2 weblog script with hacks and modifications like:
- -b2 password protect, for individual entries+rss feed protect
- Dodo’s Threaded Comments
- Dodo’s more javascript entry
- Expanded archive
- b2stats
- Clickable smilies
- b2 auto linking
- Since Last Visit hack
- It is table-less . It uses Cascading Style Sheets for layout / positioning of elements instead of tables .
- Go to The Web Standards Project to find out why using standards-compliant browsers and code is important. You are entitled to use whatever browser you want.
- This journal doesn’t look good in Netscape 4 or older browsers but at least the content can be read. This site explains more on why this crummy design is worth it all. I’ve used the Web Standards Project’s Method 2: Invisible Object to make its “text available to any browser or device, even if that browser or device does not support CSS or other web standards used in crafting the site’s simple design”.
- It validates as XHTML 1.0 Strict since March 6, 2002 for most of my themes. Some URLs that I quote might stop it validating. If you want to make your site xhtml compliant, read XHTML style guide.
- And you can now get an RSS headlines feed from this site. See that orange “XML” button way at the bottom of the menu? That will show you the URL (which is http://nimrodel.net/b2rss.php). RSS is a way to get headlines from other sites into your own. For example, the list of recently updated b2 blogs on the right are updated dynamically. To learn more about RSS, click here.
