Everyone’s out trying to make the cut
The Internet is being really slow right now so I thought I’d write while I wait for the websites to download. This week is going to be wonderful because we’ll be out at three-thirty everyday!
The school admi decided that they would shorten our classes so we could have ample time for cheerleading practice. The only catch is, practice ends at six p.m. and nobody is allowed to leave before then (unless their parenst don’t allow them to attend). When I heard that I got really pissed because there was no bleeding way I would stay an extra three hours just for my batchmates’ stupid cheerleading competition. It took me a long time to convince my mom to let me skip those practices–she’s a real stickler for attendance and time. I’m not going to do anything there anyway except sit around and wait for the clock to turn six. Besides, that cheerleading thing is not my first priority; I’ve got other things to do. I wish rehearsals were optional cos not everybody aspires to win and feel more superior than the other batches, you know. I still think the whole damn affair is a waste of time and money and if only my batchmates hadn’t insisted on having a competition this year, I bet there wouldn’t have been any.
The only reason my mom finally allowed me to skip rehearsals is because I’ll be having my piano recital this Sunday and I’ll need to practice so I don’t embarass myself. That leaves me safe for now. But what about next year? We’ll be having after school practices for a week sometime in January too. Who the hell wants to go home after six p.m. anyway? Especially if you don’t want to get involved? Nobody.
Seriously though, I wish they would just let us out at 3:30 everyday instead of 4:30. It makes me and my classmates feel more relaxed and happy because we spend less time on boring subjects. Plus, we have longer recess time–forty minutes instead of the usual twenty. I’m making my mom suggest it in the next PTA meeting; my wonderful principal loves to suck up to parents by granting their requests. I still think my school sucks, but perhaps I could do something to make my senior year more bearable.
With today as the first day of the new schedule, school was a breeze.
