If I had only one friend left, I want it to be you
Today was really boring, with a capital B. We did absolutely nothing in class except talk, eat and then talk some more. That eventually became boring after an hour or so..so we sought to amuse ourselves by requesting some of our classmates to imitate the mannerisms and speech of certain teachers.
During lunch time, my entire barkada–including Glyka–headed towards the the round table in front of the school chapel because we couldn’t find a better place to hold our open forum. It rained this morning and our usual seats in the quadrangle were wet. Anyway, we all decided that it’s about time we settled our differences so we talked about several controversial issues concerning each other. Suddenly I felt so bad about saying all that stuff about Denilou. She told me that the reason why she got pissed at me because last week or the week before that, she asked me a question and I replied using my trademarked sarcasm (but it wasn’t to be mean, though). And well, Denilou being Denilou, got real insulted by that. She really did have a family problem and well, to make a long story short, we both did a lot of wrong things to each other. We talked about other things as well…by the end of the day we came up with two rules for the barkada. First is, if anyone is irritated at someone in the barkada, she should tell that person what she feels instead of telling other people or keeping it to herself. Second, everyone must adjust to each other’s differences. We’re a group of very different individuals; not all of us are open-minded or sensitive, so we really have to meet somewhere in between in order to avoid conflict.
Needless to say, I’m really happy that everything between us is all right again. It’s really not like me to hold a grudge against someone for a long period of time. I think that this little dispute between us all helped us become closer friends in the end. It’s understood that all of us have many friends outside the group. But even though we aren’t together 24/7, we always run to each other whenever we need to unburden ourselves of our problems or secrets. I think that, for the first time in a long time, I’ve found myself true friends. Everyone else is just fun to be with when I’m in a gimmick or something. But I don’t really talk to them, like talk-talk. And they certainly don’t give a damn about my problems and vice versa.
Tomorrow, my batch is going on a sort of field trip to watch a play for our Filipino class. I think it’s a great excuse to be away from school for once. My friends and I are gonna be having pizza for lunch! Aww yeah.
