Maybe you could educate my mind

Today was okay. Nothing interesting really happened, except for some weird reason, I started having menstrual-like cramps early this morning. Which is really strange because I just had my period a week ago so it couldn’t have been PMS. I hope it was just nothing cos a teacher told us once that very, very painful dysmenorrhea could mean that you’re growing a tumor in your ovaries. The worst way to die is cancer because I’d hate to spend the last years of my life in some hospital bed, burdening my family with all my medical expenses just to die in the end. I think the best way to die is in a car accident–fast and dramatic. Well this is getting a tad bit morbid…

Arlene Chai (author of The Last Time I saw Mother and Eating Fire and Drinking Water) is having a lecture or talk or something like that tomorrow after school. Plus she’s going to release her third book. And I’m going to be there! :) I’m soooo excited. I absolutely love her books, she’s such a terrific writer. Sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever be a really great writer. The worst critic I have is myself. As I write my poem or whatever, I feel like it’s my best work but when I read it over, I feel like a four-year old could’ve done better than that. I really should take up a writers’ course or something.

Ugh, tomorrow is the audition for the first school play. And I’m totally freaking out because I still have my cold and I can’t sing because of my phlegm! I guess it won’t be a really big bummer if I don’t get in this school play because it’s not really a musical; it’s more about the story of St. Rose of Lima. But I’m gonna give it a shot just the same. It would be totally awesome if I got in because it’s been awhile since I was last backstage but if I don’t, well there’s another play that will come out early next year. So please, please, please pray that my cold will be gone by tomorrow!
