Making Pesto
I didn’t go to the mall today as planned. My mom changed her mind and thought it might be dangerous so I stayed at home today. Glyka was there by herself and she called me up on my celly and asked me to get my ass over. I told her I couldn’t go out, and I found that weird because Glyka hardly ever goes out and I’m usually the one who has to drag her to the mall. No bombs today though. Good for her.
Out of boredom I decided to make pesto for dinner. Pesto is an Italian sauce which is basically composed of crushed basil leaves in olive oil. You can mix it with anything, from salads to soups but I like mine as a pasta sauce. It’s really good. Anyway, I went to the supermarket to buy all the ingredients and what do you know, I was able to find everything except the basil leaves. I was sooo disappointed because I didn’t feel like eating anything else. Fortunately my mom remembered that she had bought dried basil leaves some time before. So I used them and I added a little chili and salt to the sauce because the original recipe didn’t taste like anything. And my altered recipe was really delicious! I’m really proud and happy to know that I can make one dish already. If you come over to meet me in the Philippines, I’ll make you some pesto. It’s really healthy and it’s especially recommended for vegetarians. I think too much pasta makes you fat though but it’s okay. Food always has its consequences.
Goddamit, I miss my friends! I never dreamed I would be saying this but….when the hell do I get back to school?!
