perky goth

I know I should be feeling happy cause tomorrow is Friday and everything, but I’m not! The sucky thing about Fridays in my school is that’s when we usually have our quizzes. And I’ve got quizzes on all of my classes, except for Christian Life Education (CLE). I don’t have to study for my Values Ed. quiz cause all you need is your common sense and likewise for English cause we’re doing abbreviations and I already read the chapter about it. I’m going to Math tutor tonight with hopefully Stephen, so I don’t have to worry about that too. What I’m really worried about is my Steno quiz. I mean, I’ve already memorized everything and stuff but I usually have a hard time when it comes to transcribing letters. Ugh! Sadistic teachers. Oh well, I’d rather have the quizzes on tomorrow than spending the weekend studying for it.

Something a little embarassing happened to me today. See, some of the freshmen in my school call me CK cause it sort of symbolizes my infatuation with him. Anyway, I was walking at the lobby of the school when I see one of the freshmen in school and she goes, “CK!” I say hi and we talk for a while and stuff. And then I tell her really loud that by next year, when I’m sure I won’t be seeing CK anymore, that I want everyone to call me CK. She goes, “Oh sure, don’t worry about it. Bye CK.” I waved bye but when I turned around to leave, I saw CK and Isobel, his girlfriend, standing not very far from us. He wasn’t acting like he heard what we said but still, his girlfriend might have. I hope they didn’t hear us; that would be too embarassing, especially since his girlfriend was there.

Someone asked me who that guy was in my “Every time I’m close to you, there’s too much I can’t say” entry. I am not telling but definitely it is not He-Whom-I-Love-Who-Doesn’t-Love-Me-Back for obvious reasons.

I’ve gotten lots of feedback about my goth entries the past 2 days. I’ve been reading lately on it because of Derek W. And it made me understand goths and not all are the vampiric, satanic, angry or angst-filled gothic stereotype. I think perky goths are cool just like Derek. This site defined perky goths this way: Perky Goths are people who like the gothic style and music, but don’t like the doom and gloom attitude some Goths have. Perky Goths try not to take themselves too seriously and don’t brood. They like to have fun. You’ll often find them wearing, for example, body glitter, a mixture of black and non-black clothing, and telling the mopey Goths to lighten up. The mopey Goths say that they are missing the point of Gothic entirely.

Then someone asked “how do I know if I’m Goth”? I had no idea at first until I stumbled upon this checklist by Goth with Sledgehammers :
If most (10 or more) of the following statements are true, it is VERY likely that you are Goth. If the first statement is false, you aren’t Goth. No, not even if all 16 of the rest are true. Of course, you would be readily accepted and most welcome amongst Goths for your strength of individuality and ability to appreciate the culture in general and themselves in particular.

1.You feel the need to spend a lot of time creating things (music, art, poetry, philosophies, stories and the like)

2.Your creative efforts are often described as dark, shocking, scary, morbid or strange

3. You like museums and cultural centers

4. You understand and even enjoy Shakespeare, Shelley, Browning or some other similar work without having to read the Cliffe Notes

5. You know the difference between nihilism and existentialism, even if you don’t really live by either

6.You really, truly enjoy music of many kinds

7.You are a very sensual person (aware of color, texture, sound, taste and scent)

8.You don’t understand why the people around you spend so much time watching TV

9.You don’t feel comfortable looking just like everyone else you know

10. You do feel comfortable just being yourself, even if no one else around is anything like you

11.You wonder “why” a lot, and come up with some interesting answers

12. You wonder “how” a lot, and often figure it out on your own

13. You don’t just reject something because you don’t understand it

14.You base your opinions of people on who they are and what they do rather than what they look like

15.You are not afraid of the unknown

16.You are not afraid of the dark

17.You are afraid of mediocrity

So, guess what I got?
